Registered industrial designs provide legal security and can be used as a competitive advantage in business.
The protection lies in the form (design) of a specific object, for example, the new plastic shape of a watch, toy, vehicle, packaging, or even the pattern of lines and colors in a textile print.
However, registration does not apply to the protection of the technical, functional or technological aspects of a product, nor to the protection of trademarks and logos.
The process of protecting an industrial design is faster than that of a patent for invention or utility model.
Protection Period: 10 years from the date of deposit with the possibility of 3 renewals of 5 years each, reaching a total of 25 years.
